Ana-Catrina Buchser is a freelance stage director based in the Bay Area. For her, theatre is the most candid way in which to express what it means to be alive. She is attracted to plays about passion, growth, and the pursuit of happiness.
Born into a family of artists, she received her formal training in piano and music theory in Bucuresti, Romania starting at age 4 and received the national title for piano in the 10-18 age group at age 12. She is an alumna of the alto and tenor saxophone sections of the Stanford Marching Band and has been singing with the Stanford Symphonic Chorus since 1999.
She attended Stanford University where she received a double Bachelor's Degree in Human Biology and Drama, as well as a Master's Degree in Theatre Directing.
Ana-Catrina is a member of Theatre Bay Area, an associate member of SDC, and an alumna of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab and Directors Lab West.
